The Peugeot 3008 DKR is an exceptional car. This two-wheel drive had a short career since it participated with the official Peugeot team in the 2017 and 2018 Dakar before leaving for the private sector.
Peugeot returns to the Dakar
The DKR 3008 is the evolution of the 2008 DKR which marked Peugeot’s return to the rally raid in 2015. The 3008 DKR were entered in particular on the Dakar where they made a big splash by winning 9 of the 10 stages and achieving a historic hat-trick with its drivers Stéphane Peterhansel, Sébastien Loeb and Cyril Desprès. These three have crushed the Toyota team and the Xraid MInis. The 2018 edition crowned Carlos Sainz who had to give up the previous year.
3008 DKR on the Morocco Desert Challenge
It was with undisguised pleasure that I learned some time before the start of the 2019 edition of the Morocco desert Challenge that one of the copies of the Peugeot 3008 DKR Maxi was going to be there.
The driver was a Frenchman: Jean Pascal Besson (note that he won the M’Hamid Express 2020 on TOYOTA), co-piloted by Sébastien Delaunay. During the race and despite a torn triangle and a second major repair, the DKR proved its capabilities with 3 stage victories and good classifications (once 2nd, once 3rd and once 5th).
The two-wheel drive of Easy Rally proved to be both very maneuverable on the tracks and at ease in the dunes, it will also come out first on the stage of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga.
