Since its inaugural München-Breslau race in 1995, the Rallye Breslau has shaped the history of European off-road racing. What started as a daring challenge with minimal rules and a passion for the extreme has evolved over the years while staying true to its legendary spirit. The unforgettable 30th edition of this epic competition took place from June 23 to June 29, 2024, in Poland. Here you can read the story of the Rallye Breslau 2024: An Exceptional 30th Edition.
The 30th Edition of Rallye Breslau Was Truly One of a Kind
From its inception, the Rallye Breslau has captured the imagination of off-road enthusiasts across Europe and beyond, portraying an epic struggle between man, machine, and nature. Year after year, it has built and cemented its reputation by adapting to modern trends without ever compromising its original identity.
What makes Breslau unique and highly regarded is that it is the only rally where all off-road vehicle categories compete side by side. Motorcycles, quads, side-by-sides, cars, and trucks take on the challenge in two distinct categories: Cross Country and Extreme.
This milestone edition did not disappoint the more than 300 participants. Under the direction of Alexander Kovatchev, the event delivered on its promises, making this one of the greatest Rallye Breslau editions to date.
The 2024 Rallye Breslau kicked off in Żagań, often referred to as the European capital of off-roading. The competition then moved to Drawsko Pomorskie, featuring a true marathon stage, where the final days of racing unfolded.
The race schedule included a Prologue, immediately testing competitors’ skills, followed by six grueling stages covering a total distance of approximately 1,300 km.
The first three racing days took place within military training grounds surrounding Żagań, featuring some of Breslau’s most historic tracks. On June 26, competitors faced the grueling Hannibal stage, transferring the rally caravan to the second camp in Drawsko. Here, the action took place within the largest military training ground in Europe, offering an incredible variety of terrain and making Rallye Breslau one of the most complete and demanding rallies on the continent.
The final day of competition was no mere victory lap. Instead, it remained a true challenge, packed with the difficulties that define Breslau, pushing participants to their limits before reaching the coveted finish line.
Rallye Breslau 2024: The Champions of the 30th Edition
The Rallye Breslau 2024 has already etched its place in history. The 30th edition of Europe’s oldest and largest off-road rally concluded after seven grueling days with an 80-kilometer final stage, crowning the champions of this spectacular event.
Mindaugas Povilaitis and Slavomir Volkov (Toyota) deservedly claimed the Car Open Cross Country title. The Lithuanian duo set a blistering pace from the start and finished with a commanding one-hour lead over their closest rivals. German rally veterans Joerg Gruenbeck and Thomas Dasinger took second place, while fellow Germans Daniel Jurk and Tabea Warg (B-Performance Proto) completed the podium.
In the Car Limited Cross Country class, Poland’s Wojcieh Chorowski and Grzegorz Komar (Toyota) dominated the competition, winning with a substantial margin. The Dutch crew of Robert Van Lutterveld and Suzan Saat (Mitsubishi) secured second place, while Germany’s Torsten Wilk and Fabian Franke (Mercedes) claimed third.

Germany’s Tom Heurer, Christoph Tum, and Marco Richter (Tatra) secured second place, while their compatriots Benjamin Kittler, Silvio Kelch, and Marco Rihter (Ginaf) finished third.
Midway through the event, it was already clear that Estonia’s Hardo Mere and his Polish co-driver Piotr Kujawski would dominate the Car Extreme Open class—a prediction confirmed in the final days. Estonia swept the podium, with Rainer Ruutli and Rainer Oja finishing second, followed by Vallo Sassi and Ats Tsupsman in third.
In the Car Limited Extreme class, the German duo Oliver Schwermann and Marc Brosig (Land Rover) delivered a commanding performance, securing first place with a massive lead. The Netherlands’ Jip Saris and Jos Beekman (Nissan) claimed second place, while Germany’s Michael Betz and Bastian Betz finished third in their classic VW Iltis.
Another victory for Estonia came in the Small Truck Extreme category, where Urmas Uffert and Kaiod Kallavus piloted their Omaval C22 prototype to first place. More than two hours behind them, Germany’s Steffen Braun, Christian Koepke, and Rainer Ulrich (Unimog) secured second, while a mixed team of Floors Dekers and Simon Meintema (Netherlands) and Hendrik Alfers (Germany) finished third.
Finally, the German trio of Kay Messner, Nico Huth, and Anja Wilhelm clinched victory in the Big Truck Extreme category. In this all-German class, Oliver Leyh, Marcus Kemmerzehl, and Andre Probst took second, while Silvio Menz, Maximilian Rexhaeuser, and Anke Rexhaeuser rounded out the podium. All the top teams in this category tackled the grueling race aboard legendary MAN KAT trucks.
