Today, it’s a M’Hamid to M’Hamid loop that will keep the competitors busy, with a night stage added at the end of the day.
A fairly fast stage that starts on plateaus, heads into the dunes, and then returns to the bivouac via rolling tracks and small dune fields.
Just a few kilometers from M’Hamid, the stage begins with a technical section following a compass bearing that leads riders onto a very winding but enjoyable sandy track. Then comes a plateau with a gravel-based track. The surface deteriorates as they approach the Sacred Oasis, before turning sandy again in the run-up to Lake Iriki. The refuel point is at kilometer 75, just before the riders dive straight into the dunes for a long 35 km section. Upon exiting the dunes, they’ll encounter some fesh-fesh, followed by a WRC-style fast track. The bivouac is getting close now, with just a few kilometers left, through vegetated terrain and small dunes.
