Here is the Truck Camper, a truck cabin built by Globe Camper (a french company), designed for extended travel. If a roof tent or a simple 4×4 camper unit seems too small for your needs or ambitions, this might be the perfect solution. This XXL cabin on a heavy-duty truck combines the advantages of a very spacious living area with the off-road capabilities of a MAN TGM 13.280 4×4.
MAN TGM 4×4 Camper: A Custom Truck Cabin
The lucky owner of this MAN TGM 4×4 13.280 is used to large vehicles, having driven buses for years. For him, the XXL format is not an issue. His goal was to have a truck that could handle off-road tracks without compromising on comfort.
He turned to Globe Camper, who built this impressive XXL camper unit. This truck is not meant for extreme off-roading, but rather for long-term overland travel on tracks across Europe and other regions worldwide.
Construction & Materials
The camper unit is built with a double reinforced aluminum skin (50mm thick), ensuring strong insulation. The walls are reinforced with 3.6mm plywood, along with aluminum corner reinforcements and structural inserts to enhance rigidity. The floor is also insulated with 87mm of insulation.
Before installing the unit, a mechanically welded subframe was required as a base structure for the camper. This subframe is mounted on the truck’s original anchor points, following manufacturer guidelines and officially approved (VASP AUTOCARAVANE VERITAS + DREAL).
Cabin Dimensions & Layout
The camper unit measures 4800 x 2300 x 2000 mm, with a total height of 3.45 meters. It’s a large vehicle, so be mindful of its size!
Inside, you’ll find all the classic features of a camper:
